Phil was over to pick up his slide CBG. Got a text from him today; he's really enjoying his latest guitar. His next request is a shovel guitar which is on hold for the moment. That will give me some time to build a test shovel guitar for me; it will be a fretted 2-string.

Glad you like this one Uncle John! My brother in law gave me some cigar boxes when we visited recently and this bold red one was the most striking of the lot. I'm glad Phil chose it; it gave me a chance to get creative and build a "Red Ryder".

Thanks for the tip on the cobalt drill bits BrianQ! I was wondering if my regular bits were up to the task as I rarely work with metal. Now I know what I need!
I saw you mentioned a shovel, FYI- cobalt drill bits are way better than titanium drill bits for hardened steel, found out titanium bits are only cobalt coated & cobalt bits are solid cobalt?
