  • Thanks everyone, sometime this week we will be tuning and playing the guitar. I will check out the lessons on the site and will make a serious attempt to learn to play a bit. I will get some lessons if necessary.

Uncle John - I made those tuners with the tools and materials I had available. I don't have a clue if they will work? Hope they are ok. I haven't had time to give them the distressed look, at the moment I was more concerned about getting the guitar finished. I can mess with the look later :) I got hold of some hessian bags today. I will be lining the inside on the case with them for effect. I plan to have a spirits mini bar, shot glasses and an ash tray from an old car fitted to the case. Thanks for your comments and interest, John

  • Now you can "multitask"

Seriously, this looks great! I love the distressed, rustic look!

I'm a drummer; I started out not know how to play either. I built my third git before I started learning. Lots of free lessons here and on youtube.

Now I demo when I sell mine and show buyers how to play them. I play out at open mic nights. If I can learn, then so can you!

  • Very neat.  John, those tuners (machine heads) are kind of neat to try and they pretty well on a one string.  Kind of hard to tune it with 3.   I think the 'real' tuners from Gitty work out to be cheaper.   I hope to see more of your stuff and hope you learn to play a bit.   Lots of good lessons here.

  • It's still looking awesome mate. I was actually wondering what happened to this build the other day!
  • These photos are an update of my rustic/ distressed CBG and case build. I was last here at the end of the last year and have had a few other things taking up my time since. The guitar is now waiting for my friends step son to fit and tune the strings. Apparently he will also be able to play it  which is good, as I know absolutely nothing about music or guitars despite building this and planning more. I plan to line the inside of the case with a hessian bag to add to the look. I also intend to fit a spirits mini bar with shot glasses in side the lid hence the fold out drink holder. Thanks to everyone who commented and helped me last time I posted. Thanks, John
