  • Brilliant. Thanks for the link!
  • I think I would start around 1/8 inch or maybe 1/16. Here is one article that talks about it.

  • Thanks Dan. I have to admit it is one of the features I'd like to do differently on my future builds. The strings are around 1/3 inch to 3/8 inch above the finger board which does make it near impossible to fret, but it happens to be that I only intended to play slide for my first build (mainly to avoid over-complicating things). I'm thinking of 'raising' the neck a little above the box surface next time around along finding a smaller bolt to lower the bridge and nut. What do you recommend for string height? I've seen several different post all quoting different heights.
  • In this picture, the fingerboard appears to be flush with the top of the box. If you build it that way, the height of the strings will be fairly high. That is OK for playing slide, but not so good for fretting/finger playing. I make all of mine so that the fingerboard sits at least 1/4 inch (6-7mm) above the lid. In your case, you could just add a 7mm fingerboard to the guitar if you want to lower the action. But, looks pretty good regardless. Nice job on your first build.
