Hmm, Hopkins was born, raised, and lived almost all hsi life in Third Ward, Houston (my neighborhood was in that ward). He would walk to and from clubs up and down Dowling street, busking along the way. I never met him, but did meet "Long Gone" Miles, who had been a kind of apprentice to him.
