HELP!, will someone with more electronic expertise than I please try and explain, what the bloody heck is going on here, used the same DIY Vol, Tone Output Jack harness as I always use, including many Tin and Metal Box builds, as always, I checked it before fitting to see if everything was ok, and it was, but after fitting, and plugging it into my Amp, nothing!, took it back to the Shed to see what was going on, and discovered that out of the Box the Harness worked fine, but after fitting, no go!, thought I may have a dicky pot, or stuffed up the wiring, so got the shites, and ripped it out, and hardwired the Pup directly to the Jack, but bugger me, the same applied, worked out of the Box, but not when fitted. But I do have, at the moment, quite a nice Acoustic Ammo Box Guitar :-)

"Thanks Jerry", totally agree!, I use my multimeter all the time for a variety of reasons, firstly to check, and make sure that any Pups I have ordered, are in working order, and also to check their Ohm reading, and most importantly, to check that any wiring harness or direct hard wiring to the Output Jack works, before I shut the Box, and String the final build up! :-)
Thanks Pick, Keith & BQ (and Unc for the good luck comment), had success by isolating the Jack, I made and fitted a 3mm Pine Ply Jack Plate, which fixed the Humbucker not working problem, BUT!, when Amped up, the static and hum was horrendous, as if it should be grounded, but we know that wasn't going to work, the Humbucker I used was a reasonably high output 15.2k 5 wire dual rail type, so I thought that might be the problem, swapped it for a 12.2k 2 wire 12 pole humbucker, still using the timber Jack Plate, and Wallah, "Problem Solved", don't know why, but there might be a lesson in there somewhere'
PS. would love to have posted some Pics for reference to the solving of the problem, BUT!, it looks like the Nation is back to having the same old problem of its own, not being able to view or post Pics :-(
Isolate everything from touching the metal . one by one starting with the Jack. till you find the issue .. (or isolate all anyway ) . this includes the sides of the pickup , not only as a ground out issue , but it will act more like a piezo if touching .
your case probably has more "metal "content than " tin" count etc than your others did .
Maybe try putting down some electrical tape under it, sticking out just a little. Or use some bicycle tube under it. Last and not least, use some thin wood, including for the output jack. Then none of it can ground out.

Glad you figured it out,., multimeters are very useful for looking for shorts,.

Try isolating the Jack from touching the metal, you may be grounding out?
I am not entirely sure that I know shite from Shinola. No help from me. Good luck with it.
