Green Ridge Steam & Gas Engine Show

This steam engine is tuned Choo-choo-choo. It keeps a good timing. They use it to thresh wheat at the Green Ridge Gas and Steam Show in Irwin, Iowa. I had fun playing here - the old farm crowd is interested in home made and poor man's instruments.

  • Used to love watching the old steamers at the Dodge County Fair, from about 100 or so feet away :-)

    Gary, that is like the grand daddy of steam shows in Iowa.  I've never been to it as we have two good ones within 20 miles of home.  I just got a call from my son  - his family is headed to the show so I will go back this afternoon.

  • Looks cool UJ. As a kid we always went to the old threshers show at Mt. Plesant IA.

  • Wes, you had an interesting job.   Man, all  those belts, gears, teeth and grinders.  So many of those old farmers lost fingers and more to them.
