first true build

Calling this my first true build, as the other two were "test" diddley bows on a 2x4 and a 1x6 and not photo worthy. About a 24 in. scale. Body is teak salad bowl and the top of a movie film canister, neck is the proverbial rake handle. Nut is a key. bolt bridge with a wood disk beneath. Wired for sound with a disk piezo in a bottle cap under the lid. Tuner, piezo, 0.010uF capacitor, jack and string ferrule from C.B. Gitty - all else from home. On to No. 2!

  • Very nice build. I tried the piezo in a bottle cap approach but I can't seem to find piezos small enough in my area (or country :)) I heard they really smooth out the sound.

  • Thanks, Loman

  • yup, agreed well done

  • Thanks, guys. I failed to add above that it sounds pretty good, too.  And yes, Maddog, I bought a 4  bowl set at the thrift shop. They varied in diameter by +/- 1/4 inch and this one was a perfect fit. The other three bowls will wait for their perfect mate...

  • Looks great! Looks like the bowl and film canister were made for each other :-)

  • lookin mighty  fine  ;--)

  • Super nice diddley.
