They called the a Toggle Clamp. Work awesome, like brand new. More info in comments.

    I think they shipped the manufacture overseas and really hurt the town and then eventually brought the work back. I wonder if they are still cooking...

    Vice grips were invented and made in a little Nebraska town. Superior was the town, I think.

    Their website says they invented the first ever, who knows, but the patent was filed 1936, I'm sure these were not the first, but still way older than me at 62. Very strong, i crushed a piece of wood. Heres one shot of the company:4114716974?profile=RESIZE_710x
