My custom Piezo 'Foam Sandwich" --- Learned how to get the piezo elements out of the RadioShack transducers (#273-073 ?) Mostly noticed that the foam tamed a microphonic pingy response on the top end tail of notes.1.That's BLue Painters tape.2. 3M heavy duty foam mounting tape, (not the SUPER dense thin grey stuff, but the foamier white)3. a paper-thin square of cigar box liner mahogany with the Piezo element gooped in Black Plati-Dip and mounted to the thin wood chip4.a 3/8th layer of light open cell-foam5. another square of the thin wood cigar box liner6.a layer of Neoprene dense closed-cell (mouse pad)Why? Cause I thought it'd be cool. no idea what all those layers did, but it sure sounds great compared to the plain unprotected piezo element stuck to the neck..Sounds like a real pick up...shockingly. Just take a few minutes to dial in a sweet spot and -- SWEET!My Blues Junior amp is great for clean-ish and round acoustic tones. But through a Roland Micro Cube amp with the right amp emu and some effects? Wow! SWAMPY and so recordable!
