Jeff, have you checked out knotlenny's CBG 101??? It has helped a lot of us get playing on fretless 3s. Google it or find it here at page top -hover your mouse over resources, then choose how to play and the video.
This is my second CBG. Same basic pattern as my first, but I used thinner, higher strings. I love the higher sound on this one, and I think the holes help as well.
