  • Jason, you didn't catch my "joke". Religious... the cross shaped bracework... I love the resultant explanation. The idea of a soundpost under the bridge to the passthrough is interesting. Fiddles have em. I've done it by accident, not cutting enough off the top of the passthrough to make my soundboard brace fit without touching the passthrough. I've done that twice and they both sound good. I worried they might buzz but they didn't. 

  • I try to be. On a standard neck though I dont usually brace them because I feel its redundant. When its strings on a stock theres really no stress being put on the box. But this one has a brass tailpiece and the box needs it. I also had to route a channel for the neck to fit in the lid cause it was about 3/8 thick and would rather take it out the lid than the neck. The main thing that really helps on this one is under that masking tape...a little wood shim directly under the bridge to soak up all that downward string pressure and transer it to the neck that can take it.
