Mmmmm, love smoking VSG's. Never smoke on an empty stomach though, you'll get a little woozy! Great build - I'm waiting for my brother (police officer) to get me some spent shell casings (preferably from the range and not a gangfight) to use for fret markers!
Thanks Larry, I used a forstner bit to cut radiused ends and a coping saw with a real small blade to cut the rest. I was a lot of work to get it as clean as it turned out, there's got to be an easier way to make these sound holes and I will find it.
***HOWEVER, I would always recommend scoring what you intend to cut, especially a box with a lacquer finish, before you start choppin' stuff up, makes things come out a lot cleaner, change out that rusty 'ol utility knife blade and take yer time.
'Zilla, that is way nice. I've got one of those boxes too, and now you've given me some inspiration. Did you use a jeweler's saw for those sound holes?
Thanks you guys, yeh, unfortunately I lacquered the ebony on the butt end, but maybe when I oil up the fretboard it will get a little less dull and more like the end piece. And Bluesheart, those soundholes were copied from another builder,I wish I could remember who to give proper credit too, but yeh alot of people seem to like that design.
