Decibel Meter

I play home made instruments with folks playing factory instruments. I need loud home mades to be heard.Today I played and open chord on several instruments at the same distance from the decibel meter. Keep in mind that the home mades I chose are loud ones.   • Hi, Gary.  They are handy.  And maybe always going about a foot from the sound hole would add consistency.   I do find that my ears and the decibel meter do not agree.

      I use a similar db meter and find it to be valuable.  I put the meter about a foot from the sound hole and really wail on the strings with a pick for Max output.  I have hit 100 db and most instruments are in the 90's (acoustic).
