#21 lap steel is getting closer. I've added a nut made of part of the leftover Ebony finger board wood laminated onto a Walnut base. Also a bridge. I'll use this metal bridge part on a Walnut plate with Padauk string tiedown. Also made a riser for the pup to get it too the right height. No springs on this one, just ears.

Yup Uncle John, the springs are like shock absorbers as well as a way to move the pup up or down for setting the height. I don't think they are a necessary thing at all. Shims and or washers can do the job just fine. Installing the springs can be a hassle too. Sproing! I like my home made tail too. The wood adds some more color and i can get the height just right. The metal saddle/bridge will allow me to ground the strings by adding a wire under the control plate that wraps around one of the screws on the bridge and leads into my control pocket to the ground on a pot.
Seaman,I'd hoped for the volume and tone pots and jack in place by now, but i'm poking along. Too hot out, it's got me sluggish. Today will get some wiring done. Under the control plate there's a pocket routed for the controls. Thanks Clock. My work isn't so "perfect" as in galleries. There's lots of saw marks, unevenness, dings, and downright crookedness.

No springs on the pups? I've only made one mag pup guitar and no springs either. Are the springs really just for height adjustment?
Nice saddle area.

I like the matching annuli of both wood pieces. Do you plan any potentiometers (volume, tone)?
An art gallery piece... well, at least, if I was running an art gallery!
Thanks JP. I like her too. Soon to hear her sing. By tomorrow evening perhaps...
Wow....she be lookin' real pretty!
