New old Relic Harmony lap steel

Today's mail was kind and brought me a great rebuild project. It's a Harmony "Silvertone" from the late 40s or early 50s. I was going to use this hardtail bridge on my #21 build but if fits this body perfectly. The screw holes line up perfect. So I built a bridge for 21 that fits it's purpose better.

  • Thank you for the info! And my sincere condolences...

  • Seaman, Yair's playing a hollow neck acoustic slide guitar. I own one, a Conquerer. They are beautiful guitars. I used to have a Weissenborn hollow neck when i was in art school. The bass player in our band "Boe Peep and the Uptights" tipped over off his bass amp where he was perched and landed on top of my guitar smashing it flat. It was repaired but never sounded as good. I got good on that instrument and got me into lap playing. I've got an old 1930s Hound Dog Dobro also. It has a very funky sound.

  • Hey Seaman, thanks for the link to some sounds. Yair sounds great.

  • Long time ago I encountered this guy - he plays a squareneck lap steel on a quite good level. His guitar is also a beauty. And a good player, as one can hear.

    These things have amazing sound...

  • Square as can be Seaman. Simply a plank of Poplar about 1 1/2 inches thick. She will make a great model for one of my own just by tracing her onto a fresh plank as well as bringing her back to life with new gear. Wish i could get a vintage pup for her, but they run way high on ebay. I'll search for a repro lap steel pup like a Lollar.

  • a squareneck?
