Swampys are excellent players. I have one and love it. For what he gives you (fine art, tone and the extra mile on detail) it's the best value for the buck out there I beleave.
I'd really like to hear one of Maddogs builds too. They're classy with just enough of a rustic feel. I'd like to get my hands on a fretless one someday.

Hound, I have not tried a swampy, but Maddog's are fine players. I hope to get him in a vid with one.
