Hi fellas, I have recently tuned my three stringer to G-B-E, and was surprised at the nice sound that can be got from it. These are then Chords I use with the tuning, and thought maybe someone may be interested in trying it.

I like this, thanks. I've noticed that i can play with my slide bar in standard tuning (which is what you have here) as if it were a open tuning (almost). I leave out a note or two, but it works pretty well. Standard dobro tuning is often like this, but it is dgbd (4 string). I like how everything fits together nicely.
that's right, Dave. And the tuning plus with occasional capo use, I can play in any key. A great companion for my other fave tuning GDg. (I sing most songs in the key of G)
Uncle John, I like that tuning also. I've used it for many years on my Dobro. Tuned in the open chord of G. The book i got on Dobro had that tuning and i learned a lot from the book. I use it on tenor banjo also. Note that this is the 2,3 and 4 string tuning of a standard guitar tuning so you can get your notes from a buddy with his 6 string to get in tune.
Jabes, The one i just picked up to measure is 191/8". There are great resources in Handmade Music Factory by Mike Orr. In the Appendix he has scale length fret markings for many size instruments, but not for baritone uke. What i'd do it get a baritone from someone and trace off the scale onto a paper template. You could even do it at a music shop. I don't like doing the math to figure it out.
Excuse me ,I've just been given a rather nice La Aurora 'Sublimes' c.box ,clean , no health warnings etc. could you tell me the s/l for a baritone uke...;)

Iv'e just put some lightweight electric strings on and tuned it to D-G-B as you suggested .... wow ... steps back in amazement, the sound was good using G-B-E, but like you mentioned D-G-B gives a much deeper sound and in fact is a lot easier to get the chords. "For my simple mind anyway" lol

Nice, thanks. I've also discovered that the ukulele and the tenor guitar are the same chord shape but just different keys. If you learn to play the ukulele you will know how to finger a guitar (top four strings). I've also noticed that i can play Hawaiian slide guitar with my guitar tuned in standard tuning and it sounds like other open lap steel tunings. Your G-B-E is just the top 3 strings of a guit. tuned in standard. I love how it all fits together.
Hey John, you found your chart. Good! So many ways to tune these cbgs. I like this GBE tuning as shown here, but like DGB better - it has a bit deeper tone and the G chord is open. Kind of the same thing as here. You just (for DGB) you use a 5 string chord chart and disregard all but the 2nd, 3rd and 4th strings.

Nice chord chart John. Call me thick but on the B chord, why is there a number 12 next to the second fret??
