I want to start a new movement. Cheap book cases are the new pallet wood. I made this cabinet from a discarded particle board book case. It is going to hold most of my precision tools, marking gauges, etc. I challenge other members to build and post a similar project.

I wouldn't fill it full of bricks but it does work pretty well. The first one I built was about 10 years ago. It looks sort of like an apothecary, i filled it full of hardware and a few hand tools, other than a few sticky drawers it is staying together. I made another very crude one that hangs on the wall and is filled with my sanders. I have found that you must pre drill all holes and use fine thread screws and don't over tighten. Construction adhesive works better than glue , but I didn't use any on this one. It's a cheap way to get a nice looking cabinet. With lumber prices where they are I think it's a win.
My only problem with particle board cabinets is once you start putting heavy stuff in em, they start falling apart! Putting smaller tools in them like you’re doing may be a good thing?
