Heard the news this morning, bad news indeed, that bluesman and philosopher Charlie "Bad News" Mitton has died of a heart attack. This photo was taken at one of Charlie's last performances at the HGMC open mic. Upton upon Severn Blues Festival. Charlie was always most supportive and encouraging of my cigar box guitar playing...well, he'd loom out of the crowd muttering something like "F**king genius this guy is..." then engage some passer-by in a deep and serious discussion on quantum theory, numerology and blues lyrics. One of a kind....

I just learned to day that Charlie was the inspiration for a character in Ian Sinclair's novel "Landor's Tower"..as a very thinly disguised character, Charlie "Bad News" Mutton...
Once in a while, collapse of the quantum wavefunction produces a real character......he's now entangled with the Akashic Field of the universe, which is just a bit bluesier than it used to be. RIP.
Bad news indeed. The world would be a duller place without eccentrics and sadly it seems like we've lost good one here. Glad I got to see him when I did. A true character.
