As someone who tinkers with homemade amps and effects I often come across circuits that need JFETs - typically 2N5457s or J201s. I went looking to re-stock my parts box recently and found that a number of suppliers (eg. Farnell, Maplin, RS, Rapid)…

Hi Mark.
Really happy to be your CBN buddy. Thanks for the request my friend and hope to see you around here :)
Cheers for the friend request.
All the best.
Steve
Hi Mark,
sorry to answer a bit late to your question dated Sep 23; I've just noticed it. I'm sorry I can't say why the tone doesn't change with your standard tone pot and cap setup. The only thing which I would suggest is to change two parameters:
Regarding the pot, I would try it with a linear taper, in case it's now loagarithmic. And regarding the cap, I'd try 47nF.
The linear impedance of an FP4 is around 1.5kOhm.
thanks mark .
Hi Mark. Thanks for taking the time to reply in such detail regarding my left handed bridge problem. You're right with your last comment about the philosophy of this CBG malarky but being a design engineer by trade I'm finding it difficult compromise in areas of build, function and aesthetics. Having said that, this is only my second build and no doubt my attitude will change.
As for the build, I'm just gonna reverse the bridge in the saddle and angle the whole arrangement on the soundboard accordingly for a left hander irrespective if it looks a bit odd. Thanks again for your friendship and advice . It's much appreciated.
Dom
Hi Mark,
Thanks for the freind request
Paul
Thanks for your friendship Mark love your builds.
Thanks for your comment on the video I posted. It led me to check out your photos, and I was over the moon to see your M & S biscuit tin guitar. It was seeing photos documenting its construction on your web-page that persuaded me to attempt to build my own.
I've now seen pictures of thousands of wonderful hand built guitars on this site, but that biscuit tin of yours remains my favourite.
Cheers for the inspiration.
Mark,
Thanks very much for the kind words. You've got some really nice work and it looks like you're handy with a camera too.
Dave.
