  • I love the balance of the design - nice proportions.
  • Yes it got chromatic on me, I set it up with diatonic frets firts, then got carried away and added some more, the idea was to play it like a lap steel, that is why the tuners point up and the  neck profile is flat, which makes it difficult to hold as a strum stick (albeit one on steroids).

     

    The sound box was made from bendy birch ply ( I make Irish drums out of the stuff), made almost entirely from scrap wood and off cuts, I had a lot of fun making it.

  • Nice looking instrument. I like the style of the sound box (round not square/rectangle).

     

    It looks like a chromatic stick dulcimer to me. Mountain dulcimers have the soundboard about the same length as the neck, or the neck running down the middle of the soundboard, like this one I'm currently building.
