I got them at Beads World in NYC. I looked on their website and it wasn't very helpful. However, you might be able to find them at craft stores like Michaels or A.C. Moore. Bits of brass tubing might work, too. I can keep an eye out for them if you like, but I don't get into town much now that I no longer commute there.
Search on etsy.com in supplies for brass spacer beads... you might find them there.
This particular hinge seems to space the strings just fine for me, and the grooves I put in the nut at the top end are a little wider than at the bridge.
The Beau has this particular cbg, and he likes the spacing, but he plays regular guitar and is used to the strings being close. My second build has a threaded eye bolt for a bridge and the threads hold the strings at a good distance apart - again, the spacing at the nut is wider. I prefer the strings closer, myself.
My next one is going to use a silver fork to hold the strings... I may use the brass spacer beads to widen the spaces (like the ones I use on the string tree - see pix of the top of the neck)... but only if it seems necessary.
I am constantly looking for new stuff to use for a tailpiece. I looked at hinges, but they seem to make the strings end up too close together. Does this one play OK for you the way it is? I used a picture hanger on my last one, then used a "real" bridge to force the strings farther apart.

Picked up a few more on etsy.com after not having any luck finding skeleton keys in antique stores.
It really works well and keeps the action close to the fretboard.
