CBG (Cracker Box Guitar) "Ol' Salty"

Vintage Nabisco Saltine tin, 22 1/4" scale, spalted maple neck/heel out of one piece of wood, walnut fret dots, dual piezos in parallel. Now if I could just find a Sardine can big enough to fit amp components in ;-)

  • Thanks John! The neck is a piece of oak handrail left over from one of the condo's I built, for years I threw the left over pieces of oak handrail in the woodburner :-( Not any more, they're incredibly strong and there is no glue up involved. I square them up on the table saw, run them through the surface planer and they're ready to be formed into necks. I am putting the word out to my trimmer to save all the leftover handrails from his other jobs for me.

  • This has to be one of the best heel/neck combos ever.

  • Thanks Pete! I'm with ya, I love the old tins :-) I remember crackers coming in these tins as a kid, of coarse back then we threw them away when we were done :-(

I scored 4 identical Nabisco tins in one day on a scavange trip into Omaha.
