  • Love to hear you play it Jim......

  • Hey Reeds, no kit here but I guess the only thing I actually made was the neck. I tell folks that the only part of the cigar box I made was the part that isn't there. Oh, I made the bridge too. The tailpiece was salvaged from a broken mando and the tuners were Ebayed. The position markers were cut from a 3/16th brass rod which you can get from craft stores (Hobby Lobby) You can get maybe 20 or 30 markers from a short length of rod. Oh - standard mando scale is 13and7/8 in. but I made this one 13" like my soprano ukes. Good luck.

  • I'm interested in building a mandolin too....are you using a kit...or did you create everything?...

  • Good idea Dave, I'll be looking for one to put in there

  • I could see that as a problem Jim. Maybe a grill of some kind could keep the finger happy....
  • Thanks Dave. The only problem with the sound hole there is the pinky on my right hand keeps falling into it. Check out the Blakes March video for an idea of how it sounds.

  • Beatiful. I love the big sound hole. Nice proportions. Bet it sounds great...
