  • Thanks for the details Jim. I'm going to try one soon. ...
  • Excellent!  I'm coming down to jam!

  • Well Dave, my method is to draw the curve on the top of the box in the position the bow needs to go and then hold the box at an angle on the bandsaw to follow the line. Then smooth out the cut on the round of the belt sander. I just hand sanded this one since there weren't any real bad spots on the cut. If you look 2 photos previous you can see the underside of the lid. Just a standard fiddle  bass bar and sound post for tone and stability.

  • I could see just sanding the shape with my belt sander on the round end of the belt. I saw the idea on Nation a long time ago too. The only thing is you loose some bracing from the box edge at that point. Are there long braces inside the box lid? ....
  • Thanks Dave and Bluesheart. When I started making CB Fiddles I saw this idea used by someone here at CB Nation. Don't recall who but thanks to him or her for the idea! This is the 2nd one I've done this way and it's a lot easier than making f holes.

  • Nice solution for the cut outs for bowing. Looks good too and a good way to get inside your box. Nice job. I like the headstock too.
  • Excellent!!
