Project Memphis

Found this “steal” on Craigslist. In the pic it looks like it could be an arch top that needs a lot of work. I make a deal with the guy and have a coworker pick it up for me. • heck, yes, that will be fun to resurrect

  • Looks like a find to me. Not in that bad of a shape.

  • Some of the"crappiest" guitars ,  can  have the most amazing tone . when simply stripped  of frets , add a bolt nut, and made into a slider . with a higher success rate  than an  full restoration that may be for nothing .

i love oldies like these .

  • Checked the frets and they are in their proper place so I lucked out there.

  • Oh boy, something else to look at. Slash’s first guitar was a Memphis LP also. Said it was great until he found out it wasn’t. If nothing else I have an expensive template haha. We’ll see how it goes.

  • My first electric guitar was a Memphis LP copy.,.,,.plywood body.,.,single coils under humbucker covers.,.,terrible intonation.,,.the higher frets were equal distance from each other.,.,

Hanging on the wall at the music store as a kid I thought it was the real thing.,.

I'm sure you can make it better than new with a little effort.,,.

  • Nice, I like that.  I picked up a Harmony flattop for $1 and resurrected it.
