Bracing

I used bamboo skewers for bracing, beer cap and hot glue to dampen piezo.

  • Uncle John, the neck is a full 1-inch thick coming through the box. There's also a 1/2 by 1/8 steel bar buried and glued in it, from the nut to about 2 inches inside the box. The fret board covers it. I dadoed the neck down to about 5/8 to clear the bracing and piezo, to the back of the box. I shot brads and glued dowels into the back end. I tried to give the neck about a 1-degree drop or rake.

    Particularly instruments that are primarily acoustic.

  • Ohh, bracing looks great, but I like a bit thicker neck or neck/heel.
