Got my short scale bass build assembled and strung up today. Since bass was the first instrument I learned to play back in high school, I felt like I needed to make at least 1 cbg bass. It's a 30" scale with oak neck and fretless oak fretboard. I used flat wound, long scale, electric bass strings, & it sounds pretty good. Pup is a bass pickup from cbgitty. Tuners are electric bass tuners. Took me 3 tries on ordering different things for the ferrules. OEM Fender ferrules were MASSIVE. I ended up using 1/4" diam rivets. They work perfectly.I'm glad I made it, but bass is challenging for my hands these days. I'll probably mostly play my commercial basses when I want to play bass. Maybe I need to just play it with a slide. Haven't tried that yet.

Excellent bass. Nicely finished, yet it appears simple and effective. Pop rivet ferrules, bolt bridge, rod nut (?)...all the basic pieces, put together into a playing package. Kudos.
