AGP #503 - ''Party-Gas''

AGP #503 – “Party-Gas”3 String Fretless Baritone Cigar Box Guitar584.2mm /28½ inchesStrings : .030NW/.018NW/.014PS/Tunings: C G cThe 2nd of my recent Cigar Box Purchases, and the 9th Partagas D Series Cigar Box Build I’ve done over the years. The Recycled Neck is, what I think is European Beech ??,finished with 3 coats of Dewaxed Super Blonde Shellac. Two 4.6k Chrome Lipstick Single Coil Pickups are wired through a 3 Way Switch, Vol and Tone Pots to the Output Jack. The Wiring did cause a couple of problems when first hooked up, one was the Neck Pup not reading its full 4.6k potential, eventually found a fault in the “New” 3 Way Switch contacts, the other problem was the Output Jack, not engaging properly, after checking for loose connections or faulty soldering etc., finally after a lot of Head Scratching, discovered that when I went to close the Box Lid, I found that one of the Screws securing the Bridge Pup was protruding down into the workings of the Output Jack, Snipped & Fixed. :-)

  • "Thanks A.D.", the Headstock probably makes it look like a Lefty, I usually buy my Machine Heads in 3L 3R Lots, so after using 3R on one side, of course the 3L go on the other side, and I usually acknowledge my mistakes & problems, in the hope someone might learn from them ;-)

  • looks like a lefty ! good to mention all your work !you never see, that on the picture ! it was a case off tight fitt i hear !! lipstick and party Gas ,you wonder whats going down there, down under ,whit that AGP# ,a little slimmer but still going strong ! there you go Bro !

  • "Thanks Doug", the Neck Timber was sourced from an old neglected Chaise Sofa Type piece of furniture that had been sitting out in the weather for quite some time, and has mainly been cut into Neck size pieces. :-)

  • You did a great job of laying everything out on that slim Party-Gas box, it looks stunning Alan! Good looking wood …

  • "Thanks UJ", Yup!, Definitely a "Slim Good Looker", just like a couple of  73 Year Old CBN Members I know, who were born in March 1950 ;-D

  • A slim good looker, Alan.  Take that party gas out side!
