AGP #500 - ''D''

AGP #500 – “D”3 String Fretless GuitarScale: 25¼ inchesStrings : .042NW/.028NW/.020NW/Tunings: G D gAfter 10 years of building CBG Type Guitars, I finally reached Build Number #500, spent a week or two trying to come up with a “Special Build” to celebrate the 500th, and finally decided that out of all my Builds, the First One I ever did was Pretty Special, so decided to do an updated Clone Version of AGP #1 – “Number One”.All Timber is Recycled, the Box Sides are 14mm Solid Pine, the Box Bottom is 4mm Pine Plywood, the Box Top is 19mm Solid Pine, the Neck is Solid Pine & European Birch, the Fretboard is Spotted Gum, all timber was given a generous coat of an Oak Stain, and then sprayed with Rustoleum Clear Satin Enamel. An 18.7k Quad Rail Humbucker is Coil Split through a 3 Way Switch, then Vol & Tone Pots to the Output Jack. This Pickup is purely for making Loud Distorted Noises, even when played as a Split Single Coil, which I thought would have mellowed it out a bit, but doesn’t seem to make a lot of difference, so will probably do away with the split Coil Idea, and add a separate Single Coil Pup in the Neck Position. :-)

  • "Thanks Doug & A.D.", not sure what the next milestone will be?, as well as being a hoarder of Guitars, I'm also a hoarder of Recycled Timber, Pickups & Hardware etc, so I do have plenty of ingredients, & hopefully time for many more Builds ;-D

  • A nostalgic build! Great idea Alan. Congratulations on reaching 500 builds! Wow, how cool is that. I still remember my disaster of a first CBG build. I really didn’t know what I was doing and it only whet my appetite for more.

  • "Thanx UJ", I'm happy with the way it turned out as a close clone of my first build, done 10 years ago, but with the passage of time, I can't remember where I got the original idea from for the Body Dimensions & Finish etc., but I do remember the 25¼" Scale Length was copied off an Epiphone Joe Pass Emperor Arch Top Guitar I've owned since 1992. :-)

  • YUP!   Just really a fitting 500.  Handsome in wood tones, in shapes and proportions.
