Spotted Gum is a pretty common Timber over here 'UJ', still have a healthy supply of 2" x 1" lengths for Necks and Fretboards, picked it up free from a building site way back in my working days, its rough sawn and treated with some green crap, but it cleans up easily, looks good, and is also easy to work with, I have the Dave's Art build on the bench at the moment, have gone for a Rustic look for the Box, and it too will have A Spotted Gum Fretboard. :-)
You did that pretty tin just right, AGP. High 9s again. You have a pretty good grade point going. I used gum one time. Used to have a wood store not too rar away and they called gum poor man's walnut.
