AGP #381 - ''Joey''

Built this one to mark the 10th year of the passing of one of my 4 sons, the “Lovable Larrikan”, Jody (Joey) Alan Payton, on the 23rd April 2010, which sadly would have also been his 33rd Birthday.It took me 10 years to get my emotions under enough control to actually build it, But!, if you look closely, I’m sure you’ll see a few tear stains on it somewhere.The Box is an Ebay Pine Wine Bottle Carrier, the Neck is recycled Mahogany Veneered European Poplar from my trusty old recycled Piano, I acquired many years ago, both coated with several coats of spray can Clear Acrylic Gloss, a 7.3k Tele Type Neck Pickup is hardwired to the Output Jack.The Quotes on the Box Sides, and the Flaming Skull on the Neck End, are copies of just some of the many Tattoos, he had on various parts of his anatomy, the “Maltese Cross” hanging off the Headstock, is the Dog Tag of his pet Great Dane “Benson”.;-{

  • "Thanks Derek", not sure if he's smiling down or up, he was a bit of a "Wild Child", but I'm pretty sure he might be "Smiling Down"  :-)

  • "Thanks Poorness", Time Passes, but the Memories and Hurt doesn't  :-)

  • "Thanks James O", Definitely a "Very Special Guitar" built with "Very Special Memories" of a "Very Special Loved One"  :-)

  • Thanks Andries", was originally going to be a Gold Bling'y Type Build, which he had plenty of, but ended going with a Tattoo Theme, which he also had plenty of.  :-)

  • "Thanks Denbo", Yes!, a lot of emotion involved in this one, that's why it took me 10 years to be able to build it.   :-)

  • "Thanks Pick", Yup!, he was never too far from my mind when building this one :-)

  • "Thanks Again UJ", it's the latest wall arrangement, nearly all Family, but does contain a "Iowa" LPG, attributed to a Good Friend I know who lives in Ogden. :-)

  • "Thanks Darryl" :-)

  • A beautiful heartfelt tribute Alan. Your son is smiling down on you. Condolences on his passing.

  • Such a great build AGP and so much meaning behind it. That kinda hurting never goes away but this is a very constructive way to remember him. Fantastic overall. This gets me right in the feels.
