AGP #310 - ''Shitar''

AGP #310 - “Shitar”(3 String Gourd Baby Sitar)Scale: 628.65 mm / 24¾ inchesStrings : .040NW / .026NW / .018NW /My 3 string version of the “Danelectro Baby Sitar” Ronnie Wood uses on the Rolling Stones live tours when playing “Paint it Black”, the Bowl is the bottom cut of my last Kettle Gourd, the Neck & Soundboard are Grey Ironbark, the Fretboard is Forest Red Gum, the Bridge (Jawari) & Nut are Marble (sourced from what I think was an old cracked Cheese Platter), a 3.7k Chinee Ebay Lipstick Pickup is wired with Tone & Vol to the Jack. The Sitar type Bridge has the desired amount of Rattle & Buzz (or whatever it’s called), there’s fair bit of experimenting to do with this build yet, in regard to different Gauge Strings, Tunings and the probable addition of Sound Holes & maybe Frets, not entirely happy with the look of the Soundboard & Faux Scratch Plate, so will probably alter it, might “Paint it Black” :-D

  • "Thanks Dave, UJ, Derek & Bones, already back on the work bench for a few modifications to the Top / Soundboard, will try and do a sound demo, when I find the best string gauges and tuning, and also learn to play something suitable ie; Paint it Black  :-D
