"Thanks Gary W aka Rev. Bluejeans", as I use a lot of "free" recycled timbers, most of the time I'm not sure what the correct name for them is, and I'm sure that the name of some them would differ from country to country, The term Meranti is applied to a large number of species of Shorea, which is a dominant hardwood genus in Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand, and from memory in the early days of my 40 odd yrs in the building trade, it was known as Pacific Maple, Merbau is another hardwood timber I use, also known asKwila, Ipil, Vesi, Johnstone River Teak or Scrub Mahogany, which is mainly imported into Oz from Papua New Guinea.
Another beauty, indeed, AGP! This one gives me pause..... er, paws......
I DO have to ask one question though: I know you're in the Land of Oz, but are you making up some of these wood names? "This neck is made from rare Fritobeeter wood....." ;-)
