AGP #227 - Progress

First attempt at a Block Ring Wood Top Banjo, ring cut, glued & rough sanded, used some 19mm/3/4" x 64mm/ 2 33/64" off cuts of Poplar and Red Oak, wasn't sure what size ring to go with, 12",11" or 10", so thinking bigger is better?? I went with 12", which actually ended 320mm/12- 5/8'', but! no doubt there will be a 10" 11" at a later date!!!Still undecided at the moment as to what scale to use???

  • Nice sizer AGP! Thanks for the info.

  • "Yes Dave Lynas", used what we refer to down here as a drop saw, originally was going to use painters blue masking tape instead of duct tape, but bought some cloth tape, which was a heck of a lot cheaper, and very easy to use!, the giant hose clamps are actually three smaller ones joined together, they were easy enough to use as long as you tighten them up so they just slip over after gluing.

Starting the neck today, thinking around a 27" or more scale length ?

  • "Lol Gary W", nice pun on words!!

  • "No!", Uncle John & Bluesheart, it looked a daunting task when first starting, but after finding the

right "Recipe", and with a bit of referencing to the Jim Morris Build, it was actually pretty easy!

  • "BAHAHA Mr Pick !!!!l" - "Well Done!!!!"

Tried to post a pic of my latest ride, but CBN doesn't want to play the game this morning!!!!

  • Did you use a chop saw and a duct tape assembly like Jim Morris?
  • Long neckGary. That's my vote. Nice one. How was it using the giant hose clamps? I want to try them one the head stretching.
  • LOL, Gary.
