AGP #179 - “Dirty Harry’’(3+1 Bass String CBG )Scale : 635mm / 25inchesStrings : .060 / .042NW / .032NW / .024NW /Tuning : GGDGPinched the idea for this build off "Nigel McTrustry's" recent video lesson for Seven Nation Army, after a couple of attempts over the last few years (with no success) to combine a Bass String with standard strings, I finally got one to work, (Thank You Nigel !!!), had a few problems initially with a lot of "hiss, buzz and hum", this was removed by grounding the jack to the tailpiece and applying self adhesive copper foil tape to the back of the pickups, whether one of these methods worked individually, or it was the combination of the both, I don't know because, my knowledge on the electronic side of things is limited. All the timber used is a combination of (free) recycled Piano and scrounged building site offcuts, attempted to achieve an aged greyish look by applying a coat of "Vinegar & Steel Wool" mixture, which didn't do the job I expected, hence the name "Dirty Harry", this little hiccup is more than compensated by the 'Voice' of this grotty little CBG, it rattles, roars and bellows, but much to my family and neighbours disgust, "I'm having a ball with it".

I forgot to mention the recycled Tailpiece was made from the Aluminium back plate of a trashed speaker from the dump, it was originally timber but couldn't take the tension when stringed and snapped.

That I understand. Finally posted a couple of short vids of my own. People seem to be pretty forgiving here! ;-)
Thanks 'Pick',

Well named. Glad you got it de-hissed and de-hummed. Love that finish. Would be a fun one to try.
