AGP #155 - “Aussiewood”(3 String CBG)Scale : 609mm / 24 inchesStrings : .050NW / .038NW / .028NW /Tuning : GDGI bought this lovely all hardwood box from an Information Centre/Timber Museum in the Queensland country town of Wondai. • Thanks 'Gary W' and 'UJ', apart from a bit of 'Jarrah' (another Aussie wood) stain on the Bridge and Nut the rest of the build is natural colours, the Box is coated with a clear Lacquer, the 'Forest Red Gum' (Eucalyptus Tereticornis) was purchased from a local hardware store as a piece of 135mm x 19mm x 1500mm decking, which I cut into 3 pieces, 42mm wide, and your right 'UJ' it could be described as a poor man's (or a Tight Arse's) Walnut, the cost of the neck on this build was $3.15, which has been treated with a Canuba/Beeswax Furniture Polish, it was an easy timber to work with, I love the natural colour, and it has a very smooth finish.

  • AGP, that is fine wood.  I have a wood story for you.  I just ordered a handmade tenor guitar.  The guy, Wishnevsky, who built it uses some odd and cheap woods and said in his website, "Because ugly people and woods should get to sing too."  That quote is from poor memory, so it may be off a bit.

  • A beauty!  Well done, AGP!

  • That's a beauty, AGP.  Gum?   I used some one time.  With walnut stain it is kind of a poor man's walnut.
