  • Good luck with it Hillbilly. Love to see and hear it when you get done.

  • Thank you very much! Hopefully after a couple of festivals i got coming up i'll get on finishing my bass and share some pics and videos.

  • Yup Hillbilly I just tie a knot in the end. First I feed the string down thru the tailpiece, then tie the knot and pull it tight with pliers. In this picture the weedwhackers go, from low to high, E.105, A .095, D .080, G .065. The two low strings were a little too floppy so now the A string is .105 and low E is some green coated wire clothesline from Wal-Mart. Good luck!

  • I have a dumb question. I have been dying to try and make an upright bass with the whacker strings but how do you keep  them in the tail piece? Tie a knot? Also i had wondered which sizes of weed whacker strings to use for this. Any advice you could give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • friggin AWESOME !!!!!!

  • I think it's better to keep the wacker strings.
