  • I'm going to glue a piece of oak where I took too much wood off! Learning from my mistakes...

  • It will likely improve the sound - the worry I see is neck bow.

  • Thanks guys! Good to know, I thought I got a little rasp happy. Do you think this will negatively effect the sound? Could I brace the soundboard to "make up for it"?

  • Screw it first. I wouldn't recess the back of the neck, as it already looks like you've removed, possibly a bit much, significant wood to let the top resonate. Normally, only about 1/8" of relief is needed.
  • Different folks would answer with different answers.   I would glue it for some added strength.  Some would cut some grooves of a thin arch where neck meets box to let more acoustic sound come out.   To be honest, the work looks good, but the amount of wood from outside the box to inside looks like not enough.   Like you could be prone to some neck bowing.   I hope I am wrong on that.

  • I need some advice, should I screw it or glue it. Also, should I recess the bottom of the neck by the back board? Maybe an arch?
