lap Steel from 2X planks glued together, a bit of Dremel usage. 2X Drawer handles, a few varied bits of electronic wizardry, and a magnificent fretboard, all done is marquetry designed by a friend and done. It plays very well, and I have now learnt how to squeeze a melodic racket from it. The underneath is a support/anti-warp bit of Victorian fireplace that is carved and painted purely for cosmetic reasons. This bit of timber gave me the idea to build the thing. I have another bit as well......

  • Hi, The pick up is a shop bought thin, cheap from a company in Britain entitled Gear4music, I purchased the machine heads and bits from them, the pickup pieces etc from Ebay. I was somewhat amazed at how cheap stuff is in reality. Gibson guitars etc must have one helluva mark up.....!!  I struggled with the depth when mounting the pick-up, there are several hand made bits of Oak to support the thing, all of them weirdly mounted, but it was a first lap Steel ever made/played and enjoyed by myself, so excuses are in order...!!!
