  • Drooopie Dribble ! drool, drool, Old Wood Looking Good !

  • Yup.  You got the maple thing down.

I get the same when I cut into most old wood.  Fresh looking and smelling  One exception is a couple days ago and some previous times, I cut into old Harmony guitar head stocks and the wood is old and fibrous.

  • Yeh, I know what you mean, but I was going for the "Vermont maple" thing.  It was wicked hard to slice the barn board top to 1/4" without it cupping. I do have one other piece for a top, so that one will manifest sometime in the future!  I was so surprised to see that when I did cut the ancient wood, it was fresh and clean inside like a brand new board!    With the exception of the mahogany & sapele neck, all the wood was from the collector's property.  The neck (side-view) is a sandwich of sapele/maple/mahogany…come out nice.

  • Yup.   Very nice.   Some folks like the old with new style - Maddog is one for sure.   Man.  I like it like it is, but wonder how it would look with a headstock relic-ed to match or mimic the box top.  Might be good to darken the saddle underneath the nail.   Man, maybe just leave a good thing alone!    Oh.  Now I read it is in a collector's home.   Well, he got a nice piece of playable art.
