I built this guitar for my brother. He likes to smoke cigars while drinking Dr. Pepper, so I added a wall-mount bottle opener to the side. I really like how this part turned out.

I would had drilled 4 small diameter holes for strings on the low side...and mount it directly to the neck threw the lid. Seeing as your using a mag pup, resonance won't be an issue with the lid.
I thought about that, but due to its rather large size, I'd have had to make some alterations that are beyond my skills and tools. How would you have done it?

It could have been a tail piece, but it is good as you have it and you did not have to drill into it.
