I was wanting a small amp to plink away on and remembered this little gem I had built a while back. Not having the skills to do a scratch i did the next best thing, ordered from lands far away and connected the dots. Sounds great and just the right
I have not made a CBG for a while but it was calling my name, so find the cigar box and it will come. The big challenge for me is getting the neck and cone all in one box and have it all lined up.
Does anybody have a link for instructions of how to play this tune, any help would be great, I have the main lick figured out but it took me forever. Cheers Ron
I want to build a GBG using the bridge and tail piece used in a Les Paul, well that style. With a les paul the neck angles back something like 14 degrees, or their abouts. My understanding is the bridge is high so then the strings will be to high off
Has anybody checked out the Fender Mustang amps, 20watts at $100 looks like a great value. Got tons of electronic effects, sort of like the microcube but a lot more.
looks good for those that are not building their own.
I just got my 2 lowe cones in the mail today, wow they are just great, got one of each a new aluminum Lowecone and a classic brass. Can't wait to get them into a box. Thinking the aluminum Lowecones will go into a resjo, a reso banjo should give th
I am thinking about the string angle on the top of the box on my latest build.
My thinking is that the steeper the angle behind the bridge the harder the bridge presses onto the top of the box. The bridge must push down hard enough to get the most
Hey cutting things up for a lows cone reso, and just thinking that the cone is built to give a easy placement of the biscuit, but I was just thinking has anybody put one in the other way around, with the point down, giving a wider base for the biscui
I want to build a bigger reso and make the box out of mohogany, so it is still much the same wood as a CBG. Kenni Lee has a big on with a star and moon for sound holes, any idea dimensions it is, reso cone size. Cheers Ron.
A friene wants a Uke. I am not sure of a scale length. My thoughts are that with nylon strings and a CB it might be a bit underguned, as in quiet sounding. What do you do for scale lenght and strings to get the most quality out of this sort of build
I just put as set of Banjo strings on my 3 string reso, I has soft acoustics on before.
The Banjo strings sound kinda funky, but in a good way. These strings are also soft, well the point is really soft, they come in at about 4.5-5 Kg's, much lower
I got my amp finished, mostly connecting the wires, but I still needed help from those in the know at this forum. Don Tomas box, hand made volume knob, old car speaker ( figured it would work in a small box) brass handle and a bamboo speaker guard.
I have been plucking away at the Keni Lee walking base line from his CD, also on YouTube.
I have a 21 1/2' scale with some super soft martin acustic brass wound strings, although I used some super slinky steel strings on one build. I have followed t
With the frost knocking at the door the orange neck reso is about ready to sing the blues, don't forget the purple fret markers, Riley, my daughter, is already laying claim to this one. It was a little more work and lots to learn doing it. I was a h
