I just put as set of Banjo strings on my 3 string reso, I has soft acoustics on before.
The Banjo strings sound kinda funky, but in a good way. These strings are also soft, well the point is really soft, they come in at about 4.5-5 Kg's, much lower than the acustic gutiar stings I had.
These are great on the neck, for CBG builders these things are great for not bending your neck out of whack. My reso is not a through neck so these are great for me. I have them tuned to Dad right now.
Cheers Ron.

Bob;
The strings are .020, ..013, and .009 that is in inches, and they are loop end.
Thanks fr the info, I had just looked at the local shop which has a somewhat limited selection.
Cheers Ron.
Banjo, mandolin, guitar strings, are all the same with these main differences. Some banjo and mandolin strings have a loop end and some have a ball end. Most guitar strings have the ball end. But the main difference for a banjo compared to guitar strings is length. Banjos generally have a longer neck so most sets of banjo strings are a little longer.
All that being said, banjos as a rule use lighter gauge strings than a guitar. Likely what you not caring for is that the banjo strings are to light of a gauge for your ear. I feel guitar and banjo strings should be referred to by the gauge ( .010, 020, .024 wound ect) rather the specific instrument the package is labeled for.
I feel if person orders strings by gauge, they can get what they need rather than buying “banjo” strings ect which may or may not be what they need...
I hope this makes sense
Cheers
