what strings??

ok, this is probably out there somewhere but . since i started building these things i've been using d'addario strings, mainly because a set was left at our house after a party, and they sounded great. anyhoo i now have a bunch of 1st  2nd n 6th strings left over. i happen to like the strings i ve been using but cost is an issue so i bought 6 sets on line for about £2.20 a set but they are nowhere near as comfy to play and don't sound too good  how do you buy yours?in sets or singly.i hate waste

  • I've bought Ernie Ball Slinkys almost exclusively due to their robust performance and longevity, x3 packs of six worked out the cheapest though i didn't use all the strings and ended up with a collection of spare 42's and 9's.

I found a seller who sells individual Custom gauge strings in packs of six or singly, i arrived at the following string gauges for my setup (25.5" scale, GDGb)...

    32 - 24 - 16 - 13
