I have used bicycle spoke ends(female threaded part) and also cut the ends of broken strings off and used the ball end to keep strings from digging into the wood.
How do you keep the ball end of your strings from digging into the wood?
Here a pic of my first CBG. It took me some time to come up with soundholes. I ended up using two lids from empty turpentine containers. I cut out the bottom to just make a simple bezel. I'm experimenting with screen mesh to put inside some new ones
