Piezo placement

I'm thinking about doing a "dog bowl" resonator for a upcoming build and was wondering where to install the piezo. Under the bowl? A rod piezo in the bridge? What are y'all doing on these builds?

Adding artwork to wood

Hi All,  I'm a quiet one here, gaining knowledge.  Today, I found something that caught my eye.  I was chosen to be a beta tester for CB Gitty's new bare you build it box.  I was wondering how to decorate my new build to be and this may give me exact

inexpensive biscuit bridge

Have tried many searches to find a hard wood, preferably maple, wood disc to use as a biscuit bridge on my dog dish reso built.  I finally hit the jackpot when this popped up.  The dimensions are perfect for me but may require a reduction in thicknes

Hubcap.

I want to use an old Holden hubcap (metal) instead of a cigarbox. I was wondering if it would be better using two hubcaps like Seasick Steve, or use one but cover the back with wood and mount the pickups etc on the flat wooden top? If I have the hubc

Modification of this box.

1079778823?profile=original  I need to modify this box.  Top does not fit snugly.  I can make it fit and use toolbox style latches to hold it on, or un-frame the top and use it like a cigar box top. Also needs to be cut down to reduce depth.  Any tips or ideas

'Nutty' Question

CBG nut, that is...  Below is a pic showing two similar builds. They happen to be my first fretting attempts following a few sliders. I used bone for both nuts. In the first, string tension kept the bone nut centered and I chose not to glue it, think

Hard Tail Bridges

I purchased a hard tail bridge, primarily because the things look so cool [true confessions] but have no idea how to install or adjust. Can anyone point me to some info? My plan is to use it on a box with a thick lid reinforced with bracing in an ele

Tapered thickness fretboards

In my last build I decided to tackle getting a decent height/break angle at the bridge. All my prior builds have been neck-straight-through-with-1/4"-bolt-for-a-bridge. But I am reluctant to cut my necks. Don't ask me why. I don't know.

Instead, I go

My first electric CBG

I have built 2 acoustic CBGs but this is my first electric build. I am wondering about proper placement of my pick-up. I purchased a pre-wired pick-up with volume and tone from CB Gitty. It said it was for 3 or 4 string guitars. I am building a 3 st

What finish do you apply to your CBGs?

Hi all

I'm just about to start my first CBG build.

It will be a three string fretless, I've got a Macanudo cigar box and tuners off of ebay (it also comes with the sellers receipt from Shane Speal!)

I would like to apply some sort of protective fini

Cigar Box Availability

I recently acquired an 8 1/4" by 1 3/4" deep stainless dog dish that has an amazing "ring" to it.  Problem is there are few large boxes.  Anyone know if it's worth running around trying to find a Fuente Riserva Conejo Limitada box that is 11 1/2" x 9

Crack in antique box

My sister-in-law gave me two boxes that belonged to her grandfather. She estimates they are over 60 years old. Both feel very fragile. One has a crack in the bottom as well as two brads nailing the cracked bottom to the side. You can see one of the b

slide guitar and nut height

Hello.

I just built a film canister guitar (3 string, open G) and would like to play slide with some fretting. Being new to slide, I've come across a question I can't find the answer to: If I lower the grooves in the nut so that I can fret accurate n
