I recently acquired an 8 1/4" by 1 3/4" deep stainless dog dish that has an amazing "ring" to it. Problem is there are few large boxes. Anyone know if it's worth running around trying to find a Fuente Riserva Conejo Limitada box that is 11 1/2" x 9" x 2 1/4"? How about a Perez Carillo 13" x 9" x 2" ? Any other brands easier to find with a box this big?

May have to self-build. Considering Mike Hagen's suggestion I cut down a wine box. I have a friend in the wine business too.
My buddy said he doesn't get wood wine boxes. Off to Total Wine and More
Have you considered cutting down a wine case to build your own big box? They're generally nice clean white pine, which cuts and sands easily and absorbs almost any finish. The top and ends of the case often have nice woodburned graphics. Artful cuts can salvage the images, or you could just hack away and flip to hide dismembered images inside the box. Top/bottom, sides and ends offer you three different thicknesses of wood to play with, and lots of spare material should you screw up.
I finished up a doubled Corojo No. 5 this weekend. You would need boxes slightly deeper, but here's how mine came out... http://www.cigarboxnation.com/photo/corojo-double
And it sounds great.
Not sure the Carillo boxes will be deep enough to accommodate the depth of your dog dish. I have done a couple of cbgs where I stacked and glued together pairs of Fuente King B or Queen B boxes. The King B is a little under 8-1/2" wide so that could work, but again, you'd have to stack two of them to get the required depth. What about building your own box?
