I hope I am mistaken, but according to what I am seeing on Facebook, Sam has been involved in a serious fire related accident and is being treated for burns over a good portion of his body.
I don't have any other information about the incident, maybe someone here knows.
Just thought I would pass it along, I am sure he could use your thoughts and prayers.

Hi Friends,
It is true, I was in an accident on January 28th that left 2nd and 3rd degree burns over 30% of my body. I feel fortunate to be alive. I was in the Burn Unit for 4 weeks and have been home for 2 weeks. I will recover, but Dr.'s are saying up to a year before I am ready to go at life full on.
There have been so many miracles along the way (both large and small) that I can only feel gratitude for the experience. That gratitude extends to my CBN family.
I love you all.

That is a horrible story, Dan, but thanks for posting it. I believe it is true. I saw on Facebook that Sam was hurt. I saw no details. Kevin Kraft posted it. Kevin is a good guy, straight shooter and a friend of Sam's. Kevin hosted the first few Kansas City CBG fests.
I got to meet Wichita Sam at the 2014 KC fest. I heard him perform- he was excellent. I sat with him and sampled his builds and they were excellent. Sam is a nice, kind and generous Christian person. My prayers go out to him.

My stepdad Sam Wood truly is an amazing man. On Thursday this past week he was getting a jump star on preparing his equipment for lawn season. A normal day nice with tones of spring in the air went tragic as the riding mower came off the ramp spilling gasoline all over Sam Wood and tossing him to the ground. The lawn more combusted and ignited him in a ball of flames. He remained calm took his wallet out, took his shirt and sweater off, tried rolling himself in the ditch to put the flames out. He was calling for help and even dialed 911 to get assistance. The neighbor heard his pleas for help and assisted getting his flaming shoes and pants off. The neighbor sustained burns to his hands in the process. The fire was so hot it melted parts of the mower and melted the drive way. He is alive due to his calm thinking.
He has burns from his neck down to his ankles. His third degree burns have been skin grafted and his fever has been down. He has been in a lot of pain and has a long recovery ahead of him. I thank God that he is alive. May his healing be rapid and his spirits be high.
I certainly hope that this is not true. WS has always been a guiding light here on CBN and was one of my personal favorites for his knowledge, grace, and humor. Let's all pray for his speedy recovery and return!
