Mance Lipscomb was an American blues singer, guitarist and songster. Lipscomb spent most of his life working as a tenant farmer in Texas and was discovered in 1960 during the country blues revival. He released many albums of blues, ragtime, Tin Pan A
So I ordered 10 wooden cigar boxes and they're all gorgeous but I'm not sure what the best use is for the really shallow ones. Like this stunning red PDR box only has 1-1/4" of interior space....
I just have to ask. I see cbgs on Etsy for sale. The first time I looked (months ago) I was considering trying to sell some on there. I saw nice ones on there with legit prices, but I saw a ton that were sad looking and the prices were about the same
Couldn't find a good thread on this - when you combine two boxes, are you talking side by side or stacked? If side by side, what do you do with the top? Thanks
Youtube star, Rob Scallon is known for his shred and djent metal guitar videos. However, his most bombastic vid features an electric one-string guitar made from a shovel. (BTW, we also found the video on how this guitar was built. It's also posted
Does string action matter on a slide guitar? My personal preference is high action--1/8" at the nut and 1/4" at the bridge. I did make one CBG that had low action, but I found it difficult to play. Since then I've gone with high action on my slide
When it comes to Seattle busking legend, Artis the Spoonman, Pete Seeger said he was "the best spoonplayer in the universe." After watching the video below, we agree.
Artis the Spoonman has been playing spoons as an art form since 1972, many years
The C. B. Gitty Gold Foil acoustic pickup is one of the most versatile and easiest magnetic pickups to mod for cigar box guitars. At only $14 each, they're deliciously cheap and I always have a half dozen of them in my woodshop at any time. (It sh

We cover a lot of 3-string lessons on Cigar Box Nation, but with so many people are creating 4-string instruments, we thought we'd compile some of the best of Shane's 4-string lessons
Cigar Box Nation founder, Shane Speal interviews George Benson at NAMM 2015. Speal incorrectly thought Benson started out on a cigar box guitar. When asked about it, the guitar legend gave an even more compelling story.
So, I ditched my radial arm saw in favor of a 220v Delta cabinet saw... I already cut 8 new fretboards from a piece of $7 Jotoba from my local hardwood supplier... I couldn't be happier...
And with my Tax refund, I was going to treat myself to th
Ok here is my final design idea for my next build that I mentioned in my other post. It will have a tube truss rod in the neck... The scale is 30" and I still need to choose what to tune it in.
